Emporio Armani teams
up with a new photographer to shoot the FW
14 campaign starring Amra Cerkezovic, Benthe De Vries, Alex Eilms and Matt
Trethe. The campaign is shot on the beaches of Dollymount Strand, Ireland which
is a beautiful location but is it the right location for this campaign? Who wears
all that on a beach?
The campaign is surreal with the use of its muted tones,
soft light, hazy backgrounds and its shot by the talented Boo George, Does that ring a bell? Remember the Zara FW 13 Campaign. Yes, this campaign
is very close to the Zara FW 13 Campaign
which was also shot by Boo George.
Same use of light, space and off course the surreal look to the images. (See
the images from Zara FW 13 below).
The campaign has hues of lilac, deep blue, wine and a lot of
grey and black. The male and female models are paired up cleverly wearing the
right outfits, heavy texture with the use of fabric manipulated surface along
with an almost neutral surface is definitely a very smart choice to make both
the products pop out and without losing its presence. The full-length shots are plain boring, well styled, well
shot but still boring. The shots that are working really well are the ones with
tighter frames focusing not just on the perfectly tailored clothes but also the
accessories.
The campaign has sensible casting, its well shot, well
styled, and is easy on the eyes but is it a good sign that this campaign has resemblance
to Zara FW 13 campaign? Let’s not forget
Emporio Armani is a high end luxury
brand and for such a brand to resemble a brand like Zara that offers affordable fashion is definitely not healthy.
